BVQR Oct MEETING

HIGHLIGHTS OF
APRIL 20th Ride
First Club
ride of 2008 was held on April 20th. There were 14 machines
and 19 people. There was lots of mud for those who like mud
bogging. Pretty chilly riding especially for children. The
50/50 was won by Doug Hawkins. It was Doug's first ride and
also his first flat tire. With the help of Ken Steves and a
few others we were able to plug it and keep going. Everyone
had a good time.
Next ride
will be on May 4th with Merle Olson leading the ride. For
information on the ride call 846-9677. Rides are also posted
on calender of events.
Highlights of
April 9th, 2008 Meeting
Meeting chaired by Ted Cullis with 19 members present.
Ted
will see about getting a member of Search & Rescue to attend
our meeting next month as a guest speaker.
We
will continue to charge non members of our Club a $10.00 fee
to go on our organized rides.
There
will be a ride on April 20th at 10:30 am meeting at the Telkwa
Airport.
There
will be a ride on May 4th at 10:30 am meeting at the Telkwa
Hall.
A new
executive for the coming year was elected.
The
next meeting will be May 14, 2008
HIGHLIGHTS OF
ANNUAL FUN DAY
We
had our annual winter fun day March 9th at the Telkwa Airport.
There were 18 participants for 9 events. Justin Steeves and
Kelly Lufkin took home top prize. There were many spectators
cheering on the participants. A great time was had by all.
Thank you for attending. There was a snowmobilers helmet and
gloves left behind at the site. The owner can claim them by
calling
846-5346.
FEBRUARY MEETING
HIGHLIGHTS
We will start
advertising our meetings on the radio station each month.
Also the Annual Meeting will be advertised in the Interior
News.
We are looking
into having some brochures made up.
Our liability
insurance will be renewed as this is due February 28th.
We will leave
our meeting day and time at the same time and place.
There will be a
Club Fun Day on March 9th at 10:30 a.m. at the Telkwa
Airstrip. Everyone welcome.
A letter will be
written to Government authorities asking help in locating a
suitable place for our Club to hold Fun Days.
A letter will be
written to local Government authorities informing them of our
Club and it's objectives.
Next meeting
will be the Annual General Meeting on March 12th, 2008 -
Election of Officers.
JANUARY MEETING
HIGHLIGHTS
It
was noted that there was also a Snowmobile Club Meeting
tonight Jan. 9th. We will check with the Snowmobile Club to
see if they will always be holding their meetings the 2nd
Wednesday of the month as we have that date for our meetings
and there are members belonging to both clubs.
We will write the RAMP
committee and ask that we be assured of representation on the
updating of the RAMP. Ed Hinchcliffe and Ted Cullis will be
our representatives.
The BVQRS's comments
regarding an Extreme Motorized Area (EMA) was discussed and we
decided that the Club would provide a written response.
Ted has checked with
Forestry regarding putting the picnic table at the Dome and is
waiting for their response.
Ted mentioned that the
members should be aware of the elections for officers at the
annual meeting in March.
NOVEMBER MEETING
HIGHLIGHTS
There
were 14 members and 1 guest present
Our
guest, Wally Bergen, spoke on the process involving the
updating of the RAMP.
It was
discussed whether we should have 2 teams to plan fun days etc.
but decided we should have more members help with these days
instead.
There was
a lengthy discussion on a proposed fun day in the Spring. We
considered asking quad dealers and truck dealers to attend
with demo machines and this will be looked into further.
It was
passed that we have signs made up and placed at the bottom of
certain frequented trails used by quad riders instructing them
to be conscious of the environment and safe and responsible
riding habits upon approval from appropriate authorities.
The Club
Webmaster requested email addresses from all members. Contact
him through this web page. If you have any comments please
notify him as well.
There
will be no Club meeting in December. The next meeting will be
at Room 401 SSS School on January 9th, 2008 at 7:30 p.m.
OCTOBER MEETING
HIGHLIGHTS
After some lengthy
discussion, it was decided to place our donated picnic table on Dome
Mtn. near the cabin for all to enjoy.
Ted Cullis and Ed
Hinchcliffe will be the spokespersons for BVQR on RAMP issues. The
RAMP committee makes decisions regarding the use of recreational
land.
We had lengthy
discussion over future rides in the coming year and a competitive
recreational area for them to be held. Please keep your eyes
and ears open for such an area and bring your ideas to our next
meeting.
We also had discussion
over the idea to have an BVQR weekend of camping where family and
friends could join us in addition to riding.
Please join us at the
November meeting with your ideas in order to make the coming year
the best ever with rides and events to meet all members needs.
